Creating Structure Relationships
The objective for this project was to condense design elements to achieve a clean, clear aesthetic that presents the typographic information. The design process involved creating a visual structure using the provided grid to develop a pure geometric abstraction that would support the provided text in a logical, structured, hierarchy.
Six Rough Concepts
Adobe Illustrator was used to design these concepts. These compositions incorporated vertical, horizontal, and diagonal elements to explore the space. The grid consists of horizontal and vertical units/divisions with consistent space between them. Working with the grid helped avoid the “convenient” look of easily made geometric forms thrown on the page. Full color was applied to each design concept.
Two Final Compositions
These final works demonstrate dynamic movement with thoughtful consideration to create unity between the typography and the image while being captivating to the eye.
